Health Professions at SWU

SWU isn't a medical school, or a nursing school, or a veterinary school. But, like many other universities, we offer ways to get into such institutions.

This 2002 Predental graduate sitting at the SWU scanning electron microscope is now in his fourth year of dental school at the Medical University of South Carolina.

Pre-Medicine and Pre-Dentistry

Medical Technology (we offer a major in this area)

Pre-Optometry

Pre-Cytotechnology (we have an agreement with the Medical University of South Carolina)

Pre-Nursing It is also possible to transfer to Clemson, or other institutions offering a bachelor's in nursing. Other arrangements are possible.

Pre-Physical Therapy

Pre-Occupational Therapy

Pre-Pharmacy

Pre-Veterinary

There are other possibilities. If you are interested in a pre-professional program not listed here, contact the Chair of the Division.
