SWU General Graduation Requirements

All traditional students at SWU are required to take the following courses in order to graduate, regardless of major:

Aesthetics, 3 hours
Freshman English, 6
Literature, 6*
Bible, 9*
Philosophy or Bioethics, 3
Intro to Computers, 3
Science lab courses, 6
Math or Statistics, 3**
History, 6
Economics, Psychology, or Social Studies, 3
Physical Education, 3*
Inter-disciplinary Seminars, 3*
Total, 54 credit hours

*Specific courses are required for these hours. See the SWU Catalog for official information

**Most science majors have a specific course requirement in mathematics. See catalog, or the pages for each major (links above and on right).

In addition, 128 college-level hours with a 2.0 or better grade point average are required. Competency in math, reading, oral and written communication and computing must be established. A major must be completed, and no grade in the major can be below 1.6 (C-) without special approval.

The SWU printed college catalog is the official publication giving these requirements. Every effort has been made to conform these pages to the university catalog.

This unposed photo (most of ours are that way) shows a computing student. There's a computer book open in front of her. There's also a Bible, which was used for class devotions, in the right foreground.
